Start a 3-day detox today and rid yourself of bloat and sugar cravings!

Discover the 3 day detox to rid yourself of bloating and sugar cravings.  I’ve discovered that “detoxing” doesn’t have to mean drinking only fruit juice for 5 days straight. When my body feels like it needs a reboot, I turn to whole foods, no sugar, no alcohol or artificial foods. I make these clean meals for as many days as it feels necessary—until I feel energized and cleansed of impurities. 3 days of eating clean clears the bloat and puffiness and gives me an energized boost in order to maintain these healthy habits. Keep it up and your on your way to making clean eating a healthy habit.

From the wise words of Salma Hayek, “If I’ve been indulging in rich foods, a cleanse is a wonderful way to hit the reset button… My skin glows when I finish day three. And it inspires me to think about what I put in my body.’ Salma Hayek

Maybe your diet has been crowded with processed foods, added sugars, and alcohol lately, or you’re simply veering far from your normal healthy habits. Any combination of poor choices can leave clothes fitting tighter and you feeling sluggish. Detoxing should leave you feeling energized, refreshed, and glowing! A simple 3 day detox plan will start you off on the right foot to feeling and looking your best.

The Basics:  For the next three days, eliminate all sugars, alcohol, soda, processed food, grains and gluten from your diet. In their place, enjoy green juices, smoothies, and plant-based meals.

Detox water drinks are very import to stay well hydrated. Water is essential to help your body release toxins. The key is not to deprive your body but instead to flood it with nutrients to help it clean house. This goes without saying that you should always check with your doctor before starting any new health program.

We all know that we should drink a lot of water everyday, especially during a detox cleanse.  Lemon water hydrates and energizes you, stimulates your liver, aids detoxification, and maximizes enzyme function. I recommend drinking a big glass of lemon water each morning before you make your smoothie.  Drinking cold water before meals also can help you rev your metabolism.

Breakfast:

Green smoothies are an excellent way to pack a ton of nutrition into one glass.  Another way to enjoy a green smoothie is put it in a bowl.  Choosing a bowl, your food looks condensed instead of spread out as if it was on a plate and, therefore, makes it seem like you have more food.  Smoothie bowls are perfect because you can top your already delicious smoothie with fresh fruit, granola, hemp or even chia seeds.  My belly is full and I end up eating less.  Thats a win-win if you ask me!

Drink detox teas and waters throughout the day. These waters are loaded with essential minerals, vitamins, and other nutrients of vegetables and fruits that are necessary for the body. That bloated puffy feeling comes from too much salt, sugar and toxins. Detox drinks help to naturally reduce inflammation, boost energy, support digestion, cleanse the liver and promote healthy skin.  Check out these delicious detox water recipes from Byrdie.com.

Mid morning snack:

Snacks:

You can eat these clean snacks if you have a hankering in between meals.

apple chips from South Beach Primal

Watermelon

Celery with 1 tbsp of almond butter Hummus with baby carrots

A small handful of almonds

Try to keep your calories between 1200-1500 calories per day.  Listen to what your body needs and treat it right. I practice a 3 day detox reset often, especially after having indulged a little too much. I am not 10 lbs lighter, but I definitely feel cleaner, less puffy and gained a more positive outlook.

  1. So often people think detoxing means strictly liquid, like juices, but it can be so much better than that! Great tips, thinking I’ll give it a go!

    1. Excellent Katie! I agree, but I don’t want to deprive myself…I just want to treat it better and feel better.
      Cheers!
